Three people were hospitalized after a woman drove drunk, struck another vehicle and seriously injured an 89-year-old pedestrian in front of a Huntington McDonald’s on Monday afternoon. One of our staff members passed by the scene of the accident on Jericho Turnpike which ultimately was closed for several hours.
According to authorities, a female Huntington Station driver, was driving a 2005 Toyota westbound on West Jericho Turnpike when she attempted to pull into the McDonald’s parking lot, but instead struck a 2009 Chevrolet that was traveling eastbound.
The Chevrolet then allegedly veered off the roadway. The car then pinned Louis Anania, of Dix Hills, to the front of the McDonald’s as he was leaving. The 89-year-old suffered broken bones including an open leg fracture and a broken clavicle. The driver of the Chevrolet was treated for minor injuries and released from Huntington Hospital. According to the police, an investigation revealed the driver of the 2005 Toyota was driving while intoxicated and she was placed under arrest.
