Several Katy Perry concert-goers were injured and one was taken to the hospital after they were attacked at two separate concerts in New Zealand this past week. According to witnesses, people were pushing when fighting broke out, with some attackers using their stiletto heels as weapons.
One of the injured concert-goers, Alex White, described the scene: “Everyone’s pushing, everyone’s pushing me, people were getting pushed. Next minute you’ve got fists in your face, you’ve got heaps of people throwing punches, kicks and whatever else.” Ms. White says the injuries were inflicted by girls throwing punches, and the experience was terrifying. “I don’t think security there was tight enough,” she added.
We have seen an increase in injuries at our office from concerts at Nassau Coliseum, Jones Beach Theater, Madison Square Garden, and The Meadowlands.
Injuries at concerts can result in liability to different parties–such as the owner of the venue, the promoter, the performers, and the security company– so it is important to document the incident. Save you ticket, try to get names and numbers of witnesses, take pictures of injuries and get a medical report. The experienced lawyers at Goldstein and Bashner will provide a free consultation and help you collect any compensation you deserve.
